The UHCA will meet at 2306 Jefferson Ave (in soon-to-open Union Market,) at 7:00 pm. on November 20, 2013.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide all possible and pertinent information regarding Mayor Jones' proposal for the development of Shockoe Bottom.
Our UHCA Secretary has contacted the office of Mayor Jones and requested that either he, or a representative from his office attend this meeting. We also hope our 7th District Councilperson, Dr. Cynthia Newbille will attend and share her vision of Shockoe Bottom.
You can prepare for the discussion by checking out any of the following resources:
-Loving RVA (the official website of the Mayor's proposed plan)
-a recent news story in the Times Dispatch
-a recent editorial in the Times Dispatch
-a featured story in Style: Double Play
-along with Style editorials: For the Fences, Gambling with Gold and Team Players
Note: The above list is simply a sampling of published articles and web resources as of 11-12-2013. The Shockoe plan is considered breaking news. Undoubtedly, there will be stories and editorials in the media prior to the meeting. As this web-blog is a 100% volunteer effort, it might not be able to keep up with 24-hour news cycle of River City. You may wish to do a quick web search before the meeting if you're interested in being au courant.
Please forward specific question for our guests to firstname.lastname@example.org They will be forwarded to the appropriate party prior to the meeting.
It is the intent that this will be an informational meeting. If, at its conclusion, there is consensus that additional discussion and possible action is desired, a meeting at a later date will be scheduled for that purpose.
